It's a prime spot for commuting on Route 95 north to Portland ME or south to Boston MA, each an hour away. And both downtown Portsmouth NH and the University of New Hampshire are just 10 minutes away!
Dover has a well-regarded public school system with an impressive, modern high school...it's campus has one of the largest displays of solar panels in the state and a great Career Technical Center. There is also Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, a co-ed school situated on the north side of the Dover Point peninsula and Portsmouth Christian Academy, a 50-acre campus next to the Bellamy River.
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, a Dover-based non-profit health organization, has been named best on the Seacoast and is a member of the Massachusetts General Hospital family.
THINGS TO DO + PLACES TO EAT
What makes Dover particularly special is its sense of community...there is always be something happening downtown, from live music and community events to its thriving art scene. Families like to visit the Childrens Museum of New Hampshire and, afterward, stop at the Noggin Factory and get a sweet treat at Lickees and Chewies Candies & Creamery. Nature lovers prefer exploring the Dover Community Trails and climbing to the top of Garrison Hill Tower to take in the views. On a clear day you can see all the way to the White Mountains!
A perfect Dover morning begins with a cup of coffee or tea at Flight Coffee Cafe, followed by breakfast at Two Home Cooks (voted one of the top brunch spots in NH by WMUR 2019). Everyone loves La Festa Brick & Brew for a slice of brick oven pizza...and for dinner, foodies flock to Chapel + Main which offers so many delicious options on its unique menu.
